Belmont Park and Ride
|
We worked alongside Cumbrian Industrials to construct a Park and Ride with 400 car parking spaces. The site included the construction of an underground Storm Water Attenuation System to help prevent the flooding of the houses in Belmont, a retaining wall adjacent to the new off slip to the car park constructed of Gabion Baskets to accommodate a disabled access to the site. The parking areas included designated spaces for the disabled and mothers with young children. A passenger transfer/waiting building with toilet facilities, covered bus stands for the short wait between services, and a stopover facility for police vehicles awaiting emergency response calls from the A1M were also provided. This contract included us laying kerbs, tarmac, gabion baskets, the installation of the suds drainage and the provision for streetlights, traffic lights and the CCTV cameras. Access to and from the facility was taken from the A690, so the existing road layout was adjusted and provisions were made to allow the new junction to be controlled by traffic lights. A separate access was provided for the express buses arriving from the city centre. Pedestrian and cycle links were also provided between the site and the existing housing areas of Carrville and West Rainton. |
